Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray will miss Monday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans after suffering a hamstring strain in Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bulls. Reggie Jackson will start in Murray’s place.

According to the Nuggets, Murray is only expected to miss one game and could be back for Wednesday’s game against the Golden State Warriors.

Murray is having a great season

Even though Jamal Murray has yet to be named an All-Star, Denver Nuggets fans generally recognize him as one of the team’s brightest stars. Murray is undoubtedly the second best player on the Nuggets behind Nikola Jokic. In his seven active seasons in Denver, he has given countless great performances that have contributed to the success of Jokic and the team.

While it’s uncertain whether Murray will be named an All-Star for the first time this season, the star guard has been impressive for the Nuggets, contributing 16.3 points, 7.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.

His performance was most notable last Sunday in Denver against the Utah Jazz. Murray chipped in a double-double with 18 points and 14 assists. He followed that up with a double-double of 18 points and 13 assists against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.

Murray’s contributions have helped Jokic and the Nuggets to a 6-1 record. As the early part of the season progressed, the Denver Nuggets were showing the potential to defend their title and achieve back to back championships.

However, the duo of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic have a long journey ahead of them. As long as Jokic continues to play at the same level as he has over the past three seasons and Murray stays healthy, the Nuggets can make history again in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
