Marcus Fuller’s Preview: Gophers at Arkansas-Pine Bluff

The Gophers (3-1) will take on the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions (3-2) on Tuesday night.

Opening Bell.

The Gophers have shown signs of a high-scoring offense by combining for 182 points in their first two games. However, they have failed to reach the 70-point mark in either of the last two games.

Defense has been a strength for the Gophers, as they have limited their opponents to less than 70 points in three of their four games this season.

On the other hand, Arkansas-Pine Bluff has struggled on defense, giving up over 100 points in two of five games this season. The Lions rank at the bottom of the nation in defensive efficiency (362nd).

Watch him.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s top scorer is Kylen Milton, a 6-foot-4 former Western Kentucky guard who ranks fourth in Division I with 23.8 points per game. Milton had a team-high 19 points and nine assists in last season’s 72-56 loss to the Gophers.

The Gophers will need to focus on defense if they want to win this game. Arkansas-Pine Bluff has a high scoring offense but a weak defense.

The Gophers also need to be more consistent on offense. In their last two games, they have totaled 13 of 46 from three-point range.

If the Gophers can play good defense and hit shots from the outside, they should be able to win this game.
